Research Interests

My research interests are broad but ultimately linked to ecological patterns and the processes that created them. From this linkage one can derive various insights on how organisms shape their environment and vice versa. To tackle questions arising from linkage I design spatial explicit agent-based models, where all agents are described as unique and autonomous entities that usually interact with each other and their environment locally. With this technique we can derive emergent patterns, e.g. dynamics that arise from how the system’s individual components interact with and respond to each other and their environment.
